My Friday nights are usually spent curled up in bed watching tv. My new obsession is the new series, Emerald City. As I was watching the scene where Dorothy goes to this castle to "calm the elements", I couldn't help but feel like I've seen that place before. After a quick search on google, I found out that I was right! That scene was shot in the Alcázar Palace in Seville, Spain (Image courtesy of NBC). Alcázar is the oldest palace in Europe that is still used by a royal Family so I simply had to visit it during my visit to Seville, Spain. The Alcazar is also one of the film locations for the Game of Thrones. They use it as the location for the Sun Spear. How cool is that!
The next set of photos were all images found on the internet through Google. They are images of scenes from the Game of Thrones that take place in the Alcazar. Below those, I have added images I took myself during my visit to the Alcazar.

Looking for a place to visit this summer? Try Spain! One of our family traditions is to visit a foreign country during the summer. For the past two summers, Spain has been at the top of our list.
The drive was about another 15 minutes (Paris has a HUGE airport). The security check went by quickly but we waited in line to get our passports stamped for almost an hour. We arrived at our plane literally as they were about to close the door. Talk about stressed! A few short hours later, we were out sight seeing in Madrid. It's always great to sample the different foods of the country you're visiting. However, it can also be extremely fun to visit some of the restaurants you're accustomed to as well such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, and Burger King. Oh! How bout Burger King delivers!! How cool is that!
Here's what the waste station looks like in all the mcDonald's. Cute, right! Thanks for stopping by. Leave us a message below, we would love to hear from you. -xoxoxoxo I must admit. I was one of those people who protested the Memphis Pyriamid being bought by the Bass Pro Shops corporation. I grew up watching the Memphis Tigers play basket ball there. As a teacher, I attended numerous high school graduations there and even my own college graduation. Countless conerts and conventions have been held there. Heck! I even attended the castsing call for Black Snake Moan there! So yes, I had strong feelings against the Pyramid being turned into a super store for the outdoor enthusiast. My husband and my father-in-law absolutely love to hunt. I affectionalty call them hillbillies especially after I walked up on my father-in-law skinning a rabbit on his portch one day when I was picking up Londonrose. OMG!!! It took all I had not run screaming back to my car! Needless to say, those two (my husband and his aswesome daddy) were over the moon with joy at the announcement of Bass Pro Shops moving into the famous mirrored pyramid of Memphis, TN. The day after Thanksgiving, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. When Derrick came back from hunting rabbit with his father, I took him, Londonrose, and Alyanna to Bass Pro Shops to visit Santa's workshop (which was free by the way). I must admit, this was on cool looking shop! It reminds me of a wilderness growing inside. There is even a hotel here! The sign at the entrance says," Welcome to Paradise." Derrick, with his goofy grin plastered across his face, nods and says," It suuuuuuure is!" The real gem, however was the setup for Santa's workshop. The nice folks at Bass Pro Shops did an A M A Z I N G job settingup the photo station! Londonrose coundn't stop smiling. She told me later that she wanted SNOW for Christmas, lol. Lincoln Logs!!!!!! She lept from Sant'a knee and ran straight over to the Duck Hunting station. All I can say is OMG! She is definitely more like my husband than I care to admit, lol.
Memphis is both my husband's and my hometown. We now live in Georgia and try to visit as often as we can. This past Thanksgiving I decided to do something different. Instead of only visiting family and friends, I decided to tour Memphis as if I were a tourist. Oddly enough, I've spent most of my adult life in Memphis but have never ever been to Graceland. I was shocked when I found out that my husband and most of my friends have also never visited the home of Elvis Presley. Even my own father admitted to never have written his named on the famed Graceland wall that surrounds the Presley Mansion. Early Thanksgiving morning I decided to take my daughters out to the mansion to write our names on the wall. This was perfect for Londonrose since she had just learned to write her name in cursive. Graceland averages over 600,000 visitors each year. Thank goodness it was only us and one other family there when we arrived at 7:30 Thanksgiving morning. It was a challenge trying to find space but it was fun reading the message of the many Elvis fans from around the world. We did not tour the mansion nor the plane nor the famed pink cadillac display. We instead signed our names on the wall, checked that task off out "to-do" list and headed downtown to see the world famous duck march in the Peabody Hotel. We would have to come back to Graceland to finish our tour when its a bit warmer and when we have more time.
